Nursing Scholarships

Nursing Scholarships

Every year we present scholarship funds to eligible nursing students that are advancing their degrees in the cardiovascular arena.  We recognize the challenges encountered in attempting to meet the community's nursing needs as well as students' financial limitations.  It is our hope that our support can help produce highly skilled and competent cardiac nurses, change lives and strengthen our community by providing the opportunity of education.

Our current nursing scholarship funds are:

  • The Joan K. Stout, RN Cardiovascular Nursing Scholarship Fund which provides highly qualified nurses with funds to defray the tuition fees for advanced nursing education.
  • The Richard A. Elias, MD Advanced Cardiovascular Nursing Scholarship Fund which was established in honor of Dr. Elias' who is a longtime member of our Board of Trustees and Medical Advisory Committee and is now an Honorary Trustee.
  • The Eugene J. Sayfie, MD Advanced Cardiovascular Nursing Scholarship Fund which was recently established in memory and honor of Dr. Sayfie who was a longtime member of our Board of Trustees and Medical Advisory Committee.

The scholarship recipients are very grateful for these funds and are asked to submit an annual report of their status and how the scholarship has helped them which is very rewarding to Miami Heart Research Institute/Florida Heart Research Foundation.

Miami Heart Research Institute and Florida Heart Research Foundation request that every grant be exclusively used to support an approved grant or project and pay for direct expenses of said approved grant or project.  No portion of the funds awarded for the approved grant or project will be used to pay indirect overhead expenses.
